Affenpinscher: Toy Breed Spotlight
Posted By Timi on May 30, 2009
The Affenpinscher has a course, bristly coat as they are in the Terrier family. The Affenpinscher is said to be a funny, albeit stubborn breed and as such, consistent training would be required to ensure this confident pup minds his manners. While entertaining to the family, this small pooch is not recommended for small children as they can be territorial to their food and toys. This is not a shy breed - they were originally bred to kill rats and mice and therefore will likely have a high prey drive toward squirrels. The breed is said to make an excellent house dog with a delightful personality. Generally quiet, the Affenpinscher will become very aggressive toward an attacker but is very loyal to his family. Physically, the cute pooch is shaggy (but “neat”) with short ears and a short neck. A small but sturdy dog with good bone density.
