Dogs Protecting Americans

Once again I find that it’s only fitting to dedicate a post to our unsung heroes of war - MILITARY DOGS. Tomorrow is Memorial Day and time and time again the human animal uses our canine friends for their own needs and protection. While I don’t condemn all activity, I’m not always thrilled with forced work on what, may likely, be an unwilling party. :( Regardless, this post is to acknowledge, praise and spread love and gratitude to all the dogs who are fighting, working and/or lost their lives while defending our country.

Major Brain Dennis and Nubs.

Major Brain Dennis and Nubs.

Dogs are not only heros of war, they are also victims. At this year’s Genesis Awards there was one very special guest. “Nubs”. Nubs, who’s ears are cut down to his skull, was rescued and brought back from Iraq by his (now) daddy, Major Brian Dennis. Nubs had been stabbed in the side by an angry coward (”soldier”) and appeared to be dying from the badly infected wound. Major Dennis brought the dog back to camp, treated the wound but did not expect him to survive the night. He did! And now he’s living in Southern California lapping up the good life…the life he deserves.

Please take a moment on this Memorial Day to not only remember and thank the human men and women that fought (and lost their lives) to protect Americans, but also to remember and thank and send positive thoughts and love for all the canine boys and girls who did (and do) the same.
